NEWSMere Golf and Country Club gets the go ahead
Leading planning and urban design consultancy Turley Associates has secured planning permission for the development of an 85 bedroom hotel at Mere Golf and Country Club, Knutsford.
Located within the North Cheshire Green Belt, the development will also include the conversion of a Grade II Listed Building to accommodate extended and enhanced leisure club facilities. Improvements will also be made to the clubs access to the A556. Construction works on the hotel and leisure complex are scheduled to begin this year.
Paul Singleton, director, at Turley Associates commented: “We are really pleased to have secured planning permission for this important development which will safeguard the long term viability of the Club.”
Macclesfield Borough's Planning Committee resolved to approve the application in December and the application has now been approved following referral to the Government Office for the North West who decided against calling it in for a Public Inquiry.
Mark Bowler, owner of the club commented: “This development will be a great boost to the business, enabling us to provide our members and guests with the very best facilities that a modern-day golf and country club can provide.”
