We are advising the university on the preparation of a masterplan for the future expansion of the existing campus including development in the green belt. The university is one of the fastest growing universities in the country and to fully achieve its potential, it needs to expand to provide the facilities required
Our role initially involved the preparation and submission of evidence to the local plan enquiry and sought policy support for the university's growth and expansion. The local plan planning inspector gave support to campus improvement, additional development and greenbelt expansion
This subsequently resulted in us being appointed to prepare a 20 year masterplan for the Ormskirk campus. This initially involved preparing a baseline report which provided an urban design assessment of the existing campus, identifying key issues and opportunities for redevelopment
The baseline information was translated into a set of principles which in turn generated a series of masterplan options and ultimately a preferred masterplan and urban design strategy
The preferred masterplan has now been redefined as a development framework which provides a broad framework for the physical development of the existing campus and will guide the sequence of future planning applications for the next five years
